Play. Make a mess.

Prīma matēria is the term alchemists use for raw materials. In depth psychology, the prīma matēria consists of un-worked matters of the psyche. It is from this mess and chaos that we make art, finding self-expression in the images that are uniquely and authentically our own. This process uncovers the form inherent in the chaos, not something imposed, but something we can learn to observe.

Creative blocks go hand-in-hand with material that needs work, from the inside out.

Informed by years of study with an emphasis on the theories of C.G. Jung and dedicated attention to dreams, my mission is to bring creative practice in conversation with the unconscious psyche.

I approach this work as a scholar, writer, and editor with an MFA in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and MA/PhDabd in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. With this foundation, I am rooted in the numinous and archetypal, with a special interest in characters, settings, and narrative elements of our dreams and dream fragments.

As a creative myself, I’ve made art from my dreams which has been exhibited in virtual galleries. I’ve published fiction and essays in international magazines. I look forward to sharing this creative process with you, as well as supporting your creative endeavors through attention to symbolism, patterns, and motifs that are unique to you.
